The Wilson Evolution basketball is one of the most popular basketballs in the sport right now. Almost every single kid on my son’s competitive basketball team owns one of these balls. Following with this trend, a lot of the players are also getting the matching bag, the Wilson Evolution Basketball Backpack. I got my youngest son this backpack and have been pretty impressed with it so far.

Wilson Evolution Basketball Backpack
First off, it’s a lot bigger than the bag I bought for my older son last year, the Wilson NCAA bag (available here through my Amazon Affiliate). While that other bag had enough room for shoes and a ball, this new bag is much larger inside and has a lot more storage pockets too. All in all, if I had to choose between them, I’d definitely choose the new evolution bag over the one last year. The only downside is that the bag is significantly larger, so if you need a bag to go into tight spaces it isn’t going to be the best for that. It was perfect for my age 8 son but if you son or daughter was smaller or under 7 years old, it’s possible that it may be too big for them.
Is it only for basketball?
No. In fact I bought it mainly for soccer, which is my youngest son’s main sport. It has a really good drink pouch that’s big enough for two water bottles.
In fact it has a second pouch on the other side (non-insulated though) that can also hold more drinks. It’s big enough inside that you put multiple uniforms, shoes, and a soccer ball in it and still have plenty of room. I think it would be good for soccer, basketball, and flag football.
Other Features
This bag actually even comes with a place to put your laptop or ipad, perfect for a road trip. The side pockets are big enough for headphones, and it has some additional pockets for valuables like money and phones. There’s even a bottom compartment (that I haven’t used yet) for wet things.
However, I could see that being one of those things where you put something in there and accidentally forget about it for weeks, lol.
Conclusion
The Wilson Evolution Basketball Backpack is really nice overall backpack, way better than what was available when I was a kid. I think the manufacturers have finally caught on that today’s kids have like 10 different things going on at the same time and made bags that will accommodate all of that. I wish that this would have been around when I was a kid, but of course at that time the laptop probably would have taken up the entire bag. 🙂
